Ontario stallion Signature Red was represented by his first winner Aug. 20 when Signature Spring won the fifth at Woodbine.
Going six furlongs in a maiden special weight on the all-weather track, Signature Spring drew clear by 3 1/2 lengths under jockey Rafael Hernandez to win at first asking for Norseman Racing Stable and trainer Sid Attard.
In 2016, Signature Red stands at Colebrook Farms Stallion Station in Ontario for 2,500 CAN. He has 19 foals from his first crop. The 10-year-old son of Bernstein is a dual grade II winner who earned $630,232 from a 6-6-7 record in 27 starts.
Michigan-based stallion Zulu Magic picked up his first winner a day earlier, when Poof Its Magic drew off in the stretch for a 2 1/4-length victory in his debut Aug. 19 at Hazel Park.
Poof Its Magic is the second starter for Zulu Magic, who has six foals in his first crop. The 11-year-old son of Johannesburg stood for $1,000 this season at Davidson's Tracks-N-Time in Midland, Mich. Bred in Kentucky by Bill Justice, Zulu Magic won four of 17 starts and earned $73,653 in five seasons of racing.
Trained by Reid Gross, Poof Its Magic led at every point of call under jockey Wayne Barnett and completed the four-furlong allowance race in :48.52. A homebred for Jenny Barbeau, Michigan-bred Poof Its Magic is out of the Three Wonders mare Whackthekat.
