Hips to Watch at OBS August Sale Day 2

A son of third-leading first crop sire Mission Impazible   is among the yearlings that could attract buyers’ attention during the Aug. 24 second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s August sale.

Consigned by Sequel New York as Hip 329, the colt was produced from the More Than Ready   mare Kettle’s Sister and is a half brother to grade III winner Vinceremos. The colt, whose extended female family includes champion sprinter Safely Kept, was bred in New York by Sequel Thoroughbreds and Twin Creeks Farm. Twin Creeks campaigned Mission Impazible, a multiple grade II winner who stands at Sequel Stallions in New York, where his 2016 fee was $7,500, the same as in 2014 when the current yearling crop was conceived.

Shanghai Bobby  , whose first foals as yearlings this year have been well received in the marketplace, is represented in the second session by Hip 299, a filly out of the stakes-winning E Dubai mare Izzie’s Gold, a half sister to stakes winner Lady Grantham. Part of Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck’s Summerfield consignment, the filly was bred in Florida by Marion G. Montanari.

Hip 612 is a bay son of consistent sire Macho Uno   bred in Florida by consignor Woodford Thoroughbreds. The colt was produced from Sister Bertrille, a Grand Slam mare who is out of the winning Lord At War mare Lords Guest, a half sister to top grass star John’s Call. Woodford Thoroughbreds purchased Sister Bertrille, while carrying the Macho Uno colt in utero, for $ 45,000 at the 2014 Keeneland November sale.

Among others to watch during Day 2, which is the first of two days of open trading following one select session, are two Sidney's Candy   fillies—Hips 294 and 355, and a daughter of Lookin At Lucky  , cataloged as Hip 457.
