Progeny of the late Scat Daddy continue illustrating the magnitude of his loss to the racing industry.
Coolmore's son of Johannesburg, who died suddenly in December 2015, was represented Aug. 19 by his 75th black-type stakes winner worldwide when Chilean-bred Gran Villano won the Servicio Agricola Ganadero at Club Hipico de Santiago. The stakes win was Gran Villano's first and his fifth win in six lifetime starts.
Bred by Hara Cordillera, the colt is owned by Jarita Stud and trained by Juan Carlos Silva Santibanez.
Scat Daddy has a remarkably strong 10% black-type stakes winner from foals of racing age worldwide. Among his stakes winners are 45 graded/group winners and eight champions.
His influence has been especially strong in Chile where he shuttled for three seasons. Though he shuttled once to Australia, his 32 black-type Southern Hemisphere stakes winners were all foaled in Chile and account for 20% of his Southern Hemisphere foals of racing age. Scat Daddy has sired two Chilean Horses of the Year: Solaria in 2014 and Il Campione in 2015.
