Postponed wins Juddmonte International Aug. 17 at York

Postponed could be bound for the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT) Nov. 5 at Santa Anita Park should he emerge in good order from a planned run in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) Oct 2 at Chantilly.

Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's star middle-distance performer is early favorite for the 1 1/2-mile Arc, Europe's premier middle-distance race, following his Aug. 17 victory at an extended 10 furlongs at York in the Juddmonte International  (Eng-I), in which he earned an automatic starting berth in the Breeders' Cup Turf.

"It was important to achieve that group I win over 10 furlongs," trainer Roger Varian told At The Races about the son of Dubawi. "Whether he needs to go over 10 furlongs again, possibly not. He'll step back up to a mile and a half for a crack at the Arc next time. I think we'll go straight to the Arc.

"If he comes through the Arc unscathed, we'd consider a crack at the Breeders' Cup Turf and I should think that would be it for the year, but we've got a big one to focus on right now."

Like the Arc, the $4 million Breeders' Cup Turf is run at 1 1/2 miles.

Prior to the Juddmonte International, Postponed won the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Cup (Eng-I) June 4 at Epsom and the Dubai Sheema Classic March 26 at Meydan in a top-level hat trick this season.
