Description:

Del Mar will broadcast its signal in high definition this summer, joining a select number of tracks across the country that provide fans a crystal-clear look at their racing product.

The change will mean that TVG will present all its racing from the seaside track in HD. FOX Sports and FOX Sports 1 also will broadcast in HD from Del Mar.

All simulcast outlets nationally and internationally which are equipped to receive high definition will be able to access the signal in HD and the majority of the televisions on-track at Del Mar will show the upgrade. In a collaborative partnership, TVG will be providing portions of their HD production to the national broadcasts of other sports networks, including NBC Sports and FOX Sports 1.

Del Mar's 75th summer season begins Thursday, July 17 and runs through Wednesday, Sept. 3.

"We are delighted to bring high definition television to our Del Mar fans," said Josh Rubinstein, a Del Mar Thoroughbred Club executive vice president and its chief operations officer. "Watching racing in high definition makes an exciting sport even more exciting and Del Mar is going to look better than ever this summer."

Among other tracks in North America currently broadcasting in HD are Keeneland in Kentucky, the New York Racing Association tracks, and Woodbine in Canada.

This year, Del Mar's 36-day summer season will be followed by a 15-day fall meeting running between Nov. 7-30.
