McCullough Named Zia Park Announcer for 2016

Description:

California native Jim McCullough has been tabbed as the new announcer for Zia Park Racetrack and Casino's 12th season of live racing, which starts Sept. 10.

McCullough previously served as the track announcer at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and will take over the calling duties from Tom Harris for the 2016 racing season at Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M.

McCullough has also had stints as the track announcer at Will Rogers Downs in Oklahoma and on the Arizona fair circuit. Outside of racing McCullough has been a talk show host and public address announcer in the Los Angeles market.

The 56-day Zia Park racing season will run through Dec. 13, with its marquee events being the $1.8 million New Mexico Classic program for New Mexico-breds Oct. 30 and the nearly $1 million Land of Enchantment Day Nov. 23, which is highlighted by the $300,000 Zia Park Oaks, plus five other stakes on the card.
