A. P. Indian flies home to win the Forego

A. P. Indian, a son of Indian Charlie, won his second consecutive grade I sprint and did it in stakes record time in the Priority One Jets Forego Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. The final time was 1:20.99. The 6-year-old gelding is a Green Lantern Stables homebred.

At even money and with two graded stakes wins under his girth since July, A.P. Indian was the horse to beat in the six-furlong Forego, which is a Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" race for the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I).

Longshot Chief Lion and jockey Florent Geroux grabbed the lead early and took the field through fractions of :22.83 and :45.35. A.P. Indian stalked him, following close through the turn and then took the lead at the top of the stretch. From there, the winner widened his margin to two lengths and never got a serious challenge. Tamaruz finished second, followed by Stallwalkin' Dude.

A.P. Indian paid $4.20, $3.50, and $2.60. Tamarkuz paid $14.20 and $8.80, while Stallwalkin' Dude paid $4.80. The $2 exacta paid $98, while the $2 trifecta paid $542.

More to come...
