Description:

Jockey Sheldon Russell was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Ill., following an incident June 26 in the paddock involving his scheduled mount Private Prospect prior to the first race at Arlington International Racecourse.

"He has a broken foot, partial ACL tear, and a severe bruise," his agent Doug Bredar said.

The 26-year-old Russell, riding at Arlington on a full-time basis for the first time in 2014, entered Thursday's program in sixth place in the jockey standings with 20 victories.

The horse, a 2-year-old first time starter, was uninjured and went on to win the 4 1/2-furlong race under substitute rider Florent Geroux.
