Unraced since her victory in the Queen Anne Stakes (Eng-I) June 14 at Royal Ascot, reigning champion turf female Tepin breezed on the turf course at Saratoga's Oklahoma training track Aug. 29, covering five furlongs in a bullet :58.44 in company.

Florent Geroux was aboard for the move, the fastest of 26 timed works at the distance.

"We realized this is going to be one of her pretty big spaces in between races and decided we wanted to let her train a touch more aggressive today," said Mark Casse, who trains Tepin for Robert Masterson. "She looked good today and we're happy with the work. That just shows you how great she is."

Tepin is undefeated in her last seven starts dating back to October 2015 when she won the First Lady (gr. IT) at Keeneland following a narrow loss in the Ballston Spa (gr. IIT) at Saratoga. The 5-year-old daughter of Bernstein's next likely assignment is the Ricoh Woodbine Mile (Can-IT) Sept. 17 leading up to the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) Nov. 5 at Santa Anita Park.

"Our next target is Woodbine but then we'll see," added Casse. "We have a couple of options. We could go to Keeneland and maybe run in the Shadwell Mile (gr. IT, Oct. 8) or just bypass and go straight to the Breeders Cup. I feel like this was another positive move forward, so knock on wood."

The 5-year-old mare has won 12 of 20 career starts, with four additional placings, and earned $3,563,838.
