Vadamos wins the QATAR Prix Vermeille at Chantilly Sept. 11.

Wertheimer and Frere's Left Hand and Haras de Saint Pair's Vadamos both broke through for their first top-level victories Sept. 11 at Chantilly.

The homebreds took group I races on the eight-race slate at the French racetrack Sunday.

Left Hand, a 3-year-old Dubawi filly struck first in the Qatar Prix Vermeille (Fr-I). Racing in fourth and looking for running room with 400 meters to go in the 2,400-meter (about 1 1/2 miles) test, Left Hand found a clear path on the outside under jockey Maxime Guyon and had just enough to catch Godolphin's Endless Time in the final strides to win by a half-length. The Juliet Rose was another three-quarters of a length back in third.

Trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias, Left Hand won the Prix de Psyche Morocco Cup By Sorec (Fr-III) at Deauville last time out July 30, but competed well at the top level before that, coming in second in the Prix de Diane Longines (Fr-I) June 19 at Chantilly. The Prix Vermeille was her third victory from seven starts.

One race later, Vadamos stalked early leader Zarzak, took command turning for home, and held off a late drive from M & M Racing's Spectre to win by 1 1/4 lengths in the 1,600-meter (about a mile) Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Fr-I) under jockey Vincent Cheminaud.

The 5-year-old Monsun horse was knocking on the door last time out with a second-place finish in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard-Jacques Le Marois (Fr-I), and previously won the Prix Messidor (Fr-III) at Maisons-Laffitte in July and the Prix du Muguet (Fr-II) in May at Saint Cloud for trainer Andre Fabre.

Also Sunday at Chantilly, heavy favorite, Japanese-based Makahiki won the Qatar Prix Niel (Fr-II), Silverwave took the Prix Foy (Fr-II), Just Glamorous scored in the Qatar Prix du Petit Couvert (Fr-III), and Vazirabad was victorious in the Qatar Prix Gladiateur (Fr-III).
