Bronzo won the Copa de Oro Vinas de Chile (Chi-II) June 27 at Hipico Chile in Santiago and qualified for the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (gr. IT) later this year at Santa Anita Park.
Ridden by Luis Torres for trainer Jorge Andres Inda, the son of Fusaichi Pegasus won the 1,800-meter (about 1 1/8-mile) race by 3 1/4 lengths from Dream Impact.
The victory secured Bronzo a starting berth in the Dirt Mile (gr. IT) as the Copa de Oro is part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win & You're In" series. He won for the 11th time in 18 career starts. In his start prior to Friday's race, he broke through for his first win at the highest level in the Gran Premio Hipodromo Chile 110 Anos (Chi-I) May 3.
Dream Impact held on for second in front of last year's Copa de Oro runner-up Bum Bum Chiquibum, who was third in the eight-horse field.
Bronzo, a homebred of Liliana Solari's Haras Don Alberto, is out of the Memo mare Bateria Blindada.
