Another Airdrie Yearling for $900,000

Brereton C. Jones’ Airdrie Stud had its second $900,000 yearling sale during the second session of the Keeneland September yearling sale Sept.13 when Japan-based Shadai Farm went to that level for a War Front   colt.

Consigned as Hip 305, the colt out of Don't Trick Her (Mazel Trick) is a half brother to two-time grade I winner Include Me Out, grade I winner Check the Label, and stakes winner On the Menu.

Shadai owner Teruya Yoshida said the colt had "nice conformation, well-made body, and a good pedigree. War Front is a very successful sire, so the (colt) had a nice body and nice conformation."

Yoshida said the Keeneland market "is not as good as in Japan. Yes, it’s been (a) good (place) to buy."

Earlier in the session, Jones sold a Tapit colt produced from the Proud Citizen mare Believe You Can, whose eight wins in 14 starts included the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), for $900,000.

Both are the top-priced offerings midway through the Sept. 13 session in Lexington.
