Record-setting Travers Stakes (gr. I) winner Arrogate fired a bullet half-mile drill Sept. 17 at Santa Anita Park, where champions Beholder and Stellar Wind also posted workouts.
Juddmonte Farms' Arrogate recorded his second workout back at Santa Anita since his track record-setting victory in the Travers Aug. 27 at Saratoga Race Course, clocking a half mile in :46 3/5 Saturday. The move was fastest of 75 at the distance for the son of Unbridled's Song, whom trainer Bob Baffert will train up to the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) Nov. 5.
Spendthrift Farm's Beholder (Henny Hughes), who will bid to win the Zenyatta (gr. I) for a fourth time Oct. 1 at Santa Anita, went a handy seven furlongs in 1:26 2/5 in her third workout for trainer Richard Mandella since finishing second to California Chrome in the TVG Pacific Classic (gr. I) Aug. 20 at Del Mar. Her win in the 2014 Zenyatta sparked an eight-race win streak that includes the 2015 Zenyatta. She also won the race in 2013.
Hronis Racing's Stellar Wind (Curlin ), also pointing for the Zenyatta, went six furlongs in 1:14, the fifth-fastest time of 18 moves at the distance in a routine weekly workout for trainer John Sadler after halting Beholder's win streak in the Clement L. Hirsch (gr. I) July 30 at Del Mar.
