West Virginia-bases sire Gattopardo gained his first black-type stakes winner Sept. 17 when filly Unaquoi won the Rachel's Turn Stakes at Charles Town Races & Slots.
West Virginia-bred Unaquoi, out of the More Than Ready mare Jumelle Springs, is the lone starter to date from 16 foals of racing age in the first crop of Gattopardo. A homebred for Ray Pennington III, Unaquoi secured her second win overall in four starts.
Gattopardo, a stakes-winning 11-year-old son of Johannesburg, stood the 2016 season at O'Sullivan Farms near Charles Town, W.Va. for $1,500.
