Undefeated Ancient Secret will race outside of New York for the first time Sept. 24 in the $150,000 Ontario Colleen Stakes (Can-III) at Woodbine.
Alpha Delta Stables' Ancient Secret hasn't missed a step in her first four races, as the New York-bred won a maiden race last year for state-breds and opened this season in May with a win in a state-restricted allowance race. Trainer Chad Brown then opted for an open stakes for the 3-year-old daughter of Kantharos and she delivered a narrow win in the Wild Applause Stakes June 19 at Belmont Park.
Racing exclusively on turf, Ancient Secret made the jump to graded stakes winner in her next outing, holding a clear edge through the stretch to win the Lake George Stakes (gr. IIT) July 22 at Saratoga Race Course.
Ancient Secret is scheduled to start from the rail in Saturday's one-turn mile turf test for 3-year-old fillies, while Robert Marzelli's Caren, breaking from post 2, enters off front-running stakes wins at Woodbine. Caren won the July 10 Bison City on the all-weather surface before taking the Wonder Where Aug. 7 going 1 1/4 miles on the Woodbine turf.
Two other fillies enter the race off stakes wins in Cheyenne Stables' Shake Down Baby, winner of the La Prevoyante Aug. 28 on the Woodbine turf; and Robert Harvey homebred Calling Rhy Rhy, winner of the Jammed Lovely Stakes Sept. 2 on the Woodbine all-weather surface.
