Fish Trappe Road Meets Texas Chrome

Grade I winner Fish Trappe Road takes the Dwyer

Fish Trappe Road, winner of the July 9 Dwyer Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park, arrived in Oklahoma City after a summer at Saratoga Race Course and will bid to return to his winning ways in the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby (gr. III) Sept. 25 at Remington Park.

The morning-line second choice at 2-1 odds behind Super Derby (gr. III) winner Texas Chrome (9-5), Martin Racing Stable's Fish Trappe Road was sixth last out in the $500,000 Ketel One King's Bishop Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Aug. 27. Trainer Bret Calhoun has secured the services of Rafael Bejarano; the duo departs post seven.

Texas Chrome, winner of the Super Derby (gr. III) in his last race at Louisiana Downs, will bid for his third consectuive score and second graded stakes score in the 1 1/8-mile 3-year-old test. Trainer J.R. Caldwell has had Keene Thoroughbreds' Grasshopper   colt in training at Remington since July. He has won seven of 12 starts, only finishing worse than third once.

Jockey C.J. McMahon, the leading rider in the Remington Park jockey colony going into Derby week, will have the assignment for the third consecutive race on Texas Chrome. They drew the rail.

In search of his third career victory, Ready Dancer  is also shipping in from Saratoga. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Ready Dancer was fourth in the $100,000 Curlin Stakes at the upstate New York track in late July. 

Sticksstatelydude, a Virginia-bred colt trained by Greg Burchell, arrived at Remington Sept. 20. The son of First Dude   was fourth in the Smarty Jones (gr. III) at Parx Racing Sept. 5.

Canadian Derby (Can-III) winner Ready Intaglio, who took that race Aug. 20 at Northlands Park, brings in a three-race win streak in stakes company for trainer Amber Meyaard. The Indygo Shiner colt breezed four furlongs at Remington Sept. 17 in :49.87. 

Broadway Empire won the 2013 Oklahoma Derby after winning the Canadian Derby.

Trainer Donnie Von Hemel will attempt to win his all-time leading fourth Oklahoma Derby with Pin Oak Stable's Secret Passage. A promising 2-year-old at Remington last fall, Secret Passage was fourth last out in the Aug. 6 Prelude Stakes at Louisiana Downs, won by Texas Chrome. The Prelude was his first race of 2016. 

Secret Passage breezed five furlongs in 1:00.47 over a fast track at Remington the morning of Sept. 20. Von Hemel was happy with the Curlin   colt's effort. 

Seeking Blame is trained by Dallas Stewart. The colt by Blame   was fifth in the Indiana Derby (gr. II) mid-July. He is attempting for just his second career victory and breezed five furlongs Saturday at Churchill Downs in 1:01 2/5.

Way Striking, Inside Straight, Solve, and Pass The Buck complete the field.
