Unbeaten dual French classic-winning filly La Cressonniere will bypass the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) Oct. 2 at Chantilly after suffering a mild setback, trainer Jean-Claude Rouget said.
The Le Havre filly was highly regarded for the Arc, with only Roger Varian's multiple group I winner Postponed topping her in the pre-race market.
Unbeaten in eight starts for owners Ecurie Antonio Caro and Gerard Augustin-Normand, La Cressonniere was pointed to Europe's premier middle-distance race off victories in the Prix de Diane Longines (Fr-I, French Oaks) and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Fr-I, French 1,000 Guineas) this spring, followed by a two-length triumph in her Arc prep, the Prix de la Nonette (Fr-I) Aug. 23 at Deauville.
"There is a problem. Not a very strong problem, but we had to do treatment and that means we cannot run her on Sunday," Rouget told Press Association Sport. "It's not very important for the future, but enough for her not to run on Sunday.
"We don't know exactly what it is. She has to go to the topography and so on to have it checked it out. The problem is towards the back."
