Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens and Chantal Sutherland-Kruse, a two-time Sovereign Award winner in her native Canada, take America's Best Racing's readers inside the jockeys' room in 2014. Stevens and Sutherland-Kruse will provide answers to all sorts of questions such as how jockeys get paid, what goes on between races, whom they admire and what type of music and fashion style they favor.
In this edition of Inside the Jockeys' Room we learn a little more about what Sutherland-Kruse does in her down time and her favorite qualities in other people.

What do you do with your time in between races?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: While in the jocks’ room and between races I read or do crossword puzzles. Kayla [Stra] and I talk a lot while she does yoga and hopefully she brings Brys, her son, so I can play with him. Otherwise, when I feel like it I go to the kitchen and joke with Sal the cook, who I adore. While I am in the kitchen or common room there are always jocks and valets making jokes or laughing or teasing going on. It reminds me a lot of boarding school, where I lived for most of my teenage and early adult life.
Who are your heroes in real life?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: My hero is Jesus. His story is amazing … whether you believe in him or not, He is incredible. WWJD?
What was the best jockeys’ room prank you can remember?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: The best jocks' room prank was when some of the jocks got together and told me to autograph a poster or something, and one of them offered me a marker that blew up when I took the cap off.
Weirdest question a fan has ever asked you?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: Will you marry me?
What is your favorite app?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: Audible.com

What is the quality you most like in a man?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: Respect, integrity and honor, please and thank you.
What is the quality you most like in a woman?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: I love when a woman is kind to other women and shares her fabulous ability to be sexy, silly and walk in high heels with elegance and class.
What is your greatest regret?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE:  I have no regrets.
Last thing you do before you turn off the lights at night?
SUTHERLAND-KRUSE: Kiss my husband good night.
