Gulfstream Park West Dates Postponed

Description:

Gulfstream Park officials announced Oct. 4 that racing at Gulfstream Park West has been postponed Wednesday through Friday because of approaching Hurricane Matthew.

Hurricane watches and warnings were posted for parts of South Florida Tuesday morning and Florida was placed under a state of emergency.

"The safety of our fans, horses, jockeys, horsemen, and employees is our top priority," said Gulfstream Park general manager P.J. Campo, vice president of racing for The Stronach Group and general manager of Gulfstream Park. "Because weather conditions the next few days remain uncertain, we thought it was best to call off the next few days and kick off Gulfstream Park West's meet over the weekend."

Double entries will be taken Wednesday for Saturday and Sunday with races from the three canceled days and races from Saturday and Sunday. Gulfstream Park will be open for simulcasting Wednesday.
