Australian champion juvenile and young stallion Vancouver will reverse shuttle from Coolmore Australia to Coolmore's Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky. for the 2017 breeding season.
By Medaglia d'Oro out of the Danehill mare Skates, a daughter of Australian champion sprinter and outstanding broodmare Skating, Vancouver was unbeaten in four starts at age 2, capturing a stakes race first time out early in the 2014-2015 season before adding three straight group wins, capped by the Aus$3.5 million Golden Slipper (Aus-I), the world's richest race for 2-year-olds.
"I saw Vancouver in Australia last week and he's an exceptionally good-looking individual who should sire both racehorses and sales horses. I think U.S. breeders will be very impressed when they see him," said Ashford manager Dermot Ryan. "He's by a very good sire in Medaglia d'Oro and is proving extremely fertile, with over 50 mares already scanned in foal. Our sire sensation Uncle Mo was also an unbeaten champion juvenile at 2, as was Shanghai Bobby, whose first yearlings were very well received this fall and who Vancouver very much reminds me of. It all bodes very well for the future."
