Gunnevera Will Try Jackpot Over Breeders' Cup

Gunnevera wins the Saratoga Special Stakes
Saratoga Special (gr. II) winner Gunnevera will be pointed to the Delta Downs Jackpot (gr. III) instead of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I), trainer Antonio Sano said Oct. 14.
The 2-year-old son of Dialed In , who won the grade II event Aug. 18 at Saratoga Race Course by a length at odds of 9-1, finished fifth in the Oct. 8 Breeders' Futurity (gr. I) at Keeneland, where he closed from 10th with a six-wide run.
The Jackpot is scheduled for Nov. 19 at Delta Downs.
"The horse ran a good race. The outside of the track was deep and he didn't like it," Sano said of the Breeders' Futurity. "I prefer to run in the $1 million Jackpot at Delta. We'll pass on the Breeders' Cup."
Peacock Racing Stables' Gunnevera, who is stabled at Gulfstream Park West, graduated in his third start at Gulfstream Park July 16 after finishing second and fourth in a maiden race and a stakes, respectively, behind Three Rules, who recently emerged from a sweep of the 2016 Florida Sire Stakes. Three Rules is undefeated in five starts and is pointing to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.
