Seven of the top 10 lots were fillies during the Oct. 19 second session of the Arqana October yearling sale in Deauville, France.

With the market stable, the aggregate for 89 horses sold (78%) was €2,851,000 ($3,136,610), down 13% from the €3,279,000 for 100 sold last year. The average of €32,034 ($35,243) was off 2% and the median improved from €27,500 to €30,000 ($33,005).

A daughter of second crop sire Rajsaman and half sister to three black-type horses easily topped the day's trading on a final bid of €200,000 ($220,036) from Prime Equestrian's Didier Reed. The session-topper is a half sister to Prix André Baboin (Fr-III) winner Celtic Rock, French listed stakes winner Fresles, and Prix Vanteaux (Fr-III) runner-up La Pernelle. The filly's extended female family includes major runners Linamix and Luna Wells.

Named Compainville, the session-topping filly was offered by Charles Brière's Fairway consignment.

"She is a beautiful filly with a fantastic page and Brametot has done a lot to advertise Rajsaman's merits as a sire," the consignor said.

A daughter of Haras du Quesnay resident Motivator was the pick of Jeremy Brummitt at €90,000 ($99,016). The late April foal is a half sister to High Dynamite, a son of another Quesnay resident in Kentucky Dynamite, runner-up in the group III Prix Noailles last season before being exported to Australia. The family traces back to Irish St. Leger (Ire-I) victor Jukebox Jury and Grand Prix de Paris scorer Soleil Noir.

Two daughters of classic-winning sires in Le Havre and Authorized each fetched third-highest price of €67,000 ($73,712). The Authorized filly is a half sister to two black-type performers including this year's listed Cheshire Oaks third Diamonds Pour Moi. Offered by Pierre Talvard's Haras du Cadran, she was knocked down to Tina Rau.

Jim McCartan was the successful bidder for the daughter of leading French sire Le Havre from the offerings of Eric Lhermite's Haras de Grandcamp.
