Multiple grade I winner Hoppertunity worked four furlongs in company Oct. 22 in :47 4/5 at Santa Anita Park, tuning up for a run in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) off his Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) victory.

"He went nice," trainer Bob Baffert said of the 5-year-old son of Any Given Saturday, who will join current second choice Arrogate, also trained by Baffert, in the race. "Hopper is not a great work horse, never has been, but he's good, he's happy, he's solid and he's doing well."

Hoppertunity's workmate Viva Vegas was timed in :48 flat.

Grade I winner Melatonin also worked for the Nov. 5 Classic, going a mile in 1:41 1/5 under regular rider Joe Talamo.

"I'm very happy and Joe was very happy," said David Hofmans, who trains Melatonin for Susan Osborne's Tarabilla Farms, Inc. "Joe said he had a lot of horse left and we got a lot of air in him."

Santa Anita clocker Dane Nelson caught Melatonin in fractional times of :26, :38 4/5, :51 3/5, 1:04 1/5, and 1:29 1/5.

Melatonin, a 5-year-old gelded son of Kodiak Kowboy, is four for four at Santa Anita. The speedy bay has earned $1,218,552.

Also on the work tab was FrontRunner (gr. I) winner Gormley, who went six furlongs in company under Victor Espinoza in 1:14 flat.

"We just moved it up a day. He'll work again next Saturday," trainer John Shirreffs said.

Tara's Tango, pointing toward the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (gr. I), worked six furlongs in 1:13.80 for Jerry Hollendorfer with Rafael Bejarano up.

Other Breeders' Cup workers included 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr.
