The Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) may be getting some unexpected flair added to the mix.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien said Oct. 23 that Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) winner Found could make her first start on dirt against the likes of California Chrome , Arrogate, and Frosted in the $6 million Classic for her Coolmore connections. The 4-year-old Galileo filly already made her impression on the Breeders' Cup with a score in the 2015 Turf (gr. IT), her only U.S. start to date.
LAMARRA: Found Nails Golden Horn to Win BC Turf
"We've decided to put Found in the Breeders' Cup Classic and she will be (pre-entered) for the race in the morning," O'Brien told Racing Post's Tony O'Hehir Sunday. "Whether or not she runs in the Classic hasn't been decided. She's also (pre-entered) in the Breeders' Cup Turf, which she won last year, and we'll wait a bit longer before deciding which race she will go for and what other horses we'll be taking to Santa Anita."
Found has a 6-11-2 record from 20 starts, including three grade or group I victories. This year, she's won or finished second in eight of nine starts. Her last seven starts have been in group I company, and along with her Arc victory, she has six seconds, including her last effort in the QIPCO Champion Stakes (Eng-I) at Ascot Oct. 15.
