Twilight Son to Cheveley Park in 2017

Dual group I winner Twilight Son has retired from racing and will stand in 2017 at Cheveley Park Stud in Newmarket, England, the farm announced Oct. 25.

"Twilight Son is a hugely talented, beautifully bred, imposing individual, very like his sire Kyllachy," Cheveley Park Stud managing director Chris Richardson said.

Trained by Henry Candy, Twilight Son was unbeaten in his first five starts, including the 2015 Betfred Sprint Cup (Eng-I) at Haydock Park where he defeated group I winners Belardo, G Force, Tiggy Wiggy, and Gordon Lord Byron. He finished second in the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes (Eng-I). This year, he took the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Eng-I) at Royal Ascot. He finished off the board in his next two starts before being retired. 

"Twilight Son was a pleasure to train," Henry Candy said. "He was a very relaxed horse. He never took a lame step and never left an oat."

Bred by Caroline Wilson in England, Twilight Son is by Kyllachy, who also stands at Cheveley Park for £1,500 ($1,830). Kyllachy has sired 30 stakes winners. Twilight Son is out of the winning mare Twilight Mistress, by Bin Ajwaad. He is a half brother to group III winner and group I placed Music Master. 

A fee for Twilight Son has not yet been set.
