Investec Epsom Derby (Eng-I) and Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Ire-I) winner Harzand will enter stud in 2017 at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud in Co. Kildare, Ireland, the farm announced Oct. 24.

The 3-year-old son of Sea The Stars out of Hazariya, by Xaar, was bred by the Aga Khan in Ireland. Harzand raced in the Aga Khan's silks seven times with four wins, including three group wins, earning $2,270,521. In addition to his two Derby wins, the Dermot Weld trainee took this year's P.W. McGrath Memorial Ballysax Stakes (IRE-III) at Leopardstown.

Gilltown Stud has not set a fee for Harzand for 2017.

Harzand's dam, group III winner Hazariya, is a half sister to 2016 Irish Oaks (Ire-I) third Hazarista. Hazariya's first three foals are stakes performers, including group III winner and group I placed Harasiya.

Sea The Stars is currently ranked as the third leading European sire and counts five group I winners including Taghrooda, Sea The Moon, and Zelzal. Sea The Stars has produced 12.1% stakes winners to runners with his first four crops. The 2009 Cartier Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old won eight out of nine starts, finishing his racing career with a win in the 2009 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I). He stands for €125,000 ($136,000) at Gilltown Stud.
