Drosselmeyer , one of only eight horses to win an American classic and the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), has been purchased by Stud TNT and will remain in Brazil to stand stud.
The 9-year-old son of Distorted Humor —Golden Ballet (Moscow Ballet) had been shuttling to Stud TNT for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season since he retired to stud at WinStar Farm in 2012.
Drosselmeyer is a second-crop sire in Brazil, with his first 3-year-olds now competing during the 2016/17 racing season. His top runner to date is grade III winner, Enologo (BRZ), winner of the Jose Buarque de Macedo-Copa das Nacoes Stakes and third-place finisher in the Jockey Club Brasileiro Stakes (Brz-I) at Gavea.
Drosselmeyer's other first-crop graded stakes-placed performers in Brazil include fillies Kanton (BRZ) and Estella Rossa (BRZ), and colt King David (BRZ).
Campaigned by WinStar and trainer Bill Mott, Drosselmeyer earned $3,728,170 and remains the all-time leading money winner for his champion sire Distorted Humor. As a 3-year-old, Drosselmeyer captured the the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and placed in two other graded stakes. At 4 he finished second in the grade I Jockey Club Gold Cup and followed that performance with a win in the 2011 Classic, in which he beat nine grade I winners, including Horse of the Year Havre de Grace and champion Uncle Mo .
Drosselmeyer, A.P. Indy, and American Pharoah are the only three horses in history to win the Belmont and Breeders' Cup Classic.
