A filly from the first crop of Hill 'n' Dale stallion Violence   bought in July for $25,000 returned a quick substantial profit for her owner when sold for $190,000 at the Fasig-Tipton October yearling sale.

Bought by Bo Bromagen from Peter O'Callaghan's Woods Edge Farm during the Oct. 27 final session, the filly had been purchased out of the Fasig-Tipton July sale by Atlantic Bloodstock for $25,000 after being acquired by Imagine for $40,000 as a short yearling at the Keeneland January sale. The filly benefited from a significant update as her half brother Kielbasa had become stakes-placed twice since the October catalog was printed.

After deducting the sales company's 5% commission, the filly's net price at Fasig-Tipton was $180,500. Subtracting total investment (previous sale price plus upkeep, estimated at $10,000 from time of purchase to the time of re-sale) left a $145,500 profit, for an impressive 415.7% return investment.

A Florida-bred filly by Congrats   purchased out of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky February sale for $12,000 by Sunset Farm and Polo Green Stable posted the second-highest ROI of 297.3% when purchased by Silverton Hill from the Perrone Sales consignment.

Third-highest ROI of 224.8% was returned by a Liaison   colt from Gainesway. Initially bought by Eamon Riordan as a weanling for $1,700 last November, the colt most recently was sold to Hillary Pridham for $40,000.

An Into Mischief   colt who is a half brother to multiple stakes winner Populist Politics delivered a healthy 197% ROI to his connections when bought by Sam Wright for $147,000 from Baccari Bloodstock at Fasig-Tipton. Produced from stakes-placed Cedar Summer, the colt was initially purchased by Tuscany Bloodstock for $37,000 as a short yearling at this year's Keeneland January sale.

The fifth-highest Fasig-Tipton October ROI was the 190% return of a Street Boss   colt sold to Chun-Soo Son for $55,000 by Darby Dan, agent for the complete dispersal of Thomas G. McClay. The Pennsylvania-bred colt from the family of leading sire Storm Cat and grade I winners Terlingua and Royal Academy, among others, had been an $8,000 Keeneland November acquisition by Ed Price.
