Flat Out Colt Tops Indiana Mixed Sale

A colt from the first crop of grade I winner Flat Out was sold for $20,000 to top the Oct. 30 mixed sale conducted by the Indiana Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
The organization reported 23 horses were sold for $117,550, compared with total receipts of $96,500 for 35 sold a year ago. With 13 of the 36 horses going unsold, the average price was $5,111, well above last year’s figure of $2,762.
Named Flatoutjustice, the yearling sale-topper produced from the winning You and I mare You Too was purchased by Ranch Monarca from the consignment of Justice Farm, which accounted for the four top-priced offerings. The colt had been bought back for $9,000 from the recent Keeneland September yearling sale where he was consigned by Paramount Sales.
The sale-topper, bred by Justice Farm and Greg Justice, is from the extended female family of grade I winner Caleb’s Posse and graded stakes winners Seven Rivers and Mr Ross, as well as two champions in Mexico.
Two-time grade I winner Flat Out stands at Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, where his 2017 fee will be $7,000, stands and nurses, and a $8,500 fee under the farm's "Breed Secure" plan.
