Chad Brown has seemingly won just about every turf race on the East Coast this year, and he looks to continue his success out west in the Nov. 6 Goldikova Stakes (gr. IIT) at Santa Anita Park. The $200,000 heat at a flat mile drew a field of seven older fillies and mares, none of whom look better on paper than Brown trainee Zindaya.
Zindaya took the Intercontinental Stakes at Belmont Park in June and most recently ran second in the Noble Damsel (gr. IIIT). She is a stalker in a field without much speed in the Goldikova, and rates the nod over a field that has come up tepid.
Nancy From Nairobi won the Royal Heroine (gr. IIT) in May and finished third in the Yellow Ribbon Handicap (gr. IIT). She faltered last out in the John C. Mabee (gr. IIT) and shows no early speed. Prize Exhibit is another late runner who won the Monrovia (gr. IIT) in January but has lost eight in a row since. Yet another entrant with no early speed is Queen of The Sand, whose last victory came in April of 2015 in the Santa Barbara Handicap (gr. IIIT).
Majestic Heat rates a look, having won the Solana Beach against California-breds when she showed speed for the only time. Tiz a Kiss finished second in the Solana Beach and ran fifth in the Rodeo Drive (gr. IT) last time out. Hillhouse High steps up in class after spending the season facing allowance/optional claiming company.
