My Conquestadory Tops Keeneland Watch List

The overall quality of the horses consigned to Book 1 of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale make it difficult to make a short list of what is likely to prove most attractive to buyers, but some stand out more than others.
Leading this year’s Day 1 offerings is My Conquestadory, a grade I-winning mare carrying a filly sired by leading sire Tapit . She will be preceded in the sales ring by her 2016 colt also sired by Tapit. A 5-year-old daughter of Artie Schiller produced from the stakes-placed Malibu Moon mare Golden Artemis, My Conquestadory won the 2013 Darley Alcibiades (gr. I). She is consigned as Hip 21 by Lane’s End, agent for the Complete Dispersal of Conquest Stables.
“She’s a lovely mare,” says Lane’s End’s Bill Farish of the mare bred in Kentucky by Paul Tackett. “She is an ideal size and is a pretty mare. She had a tremendous amount of ability and being in foal carrying a Tapit filly gives her added value. And having a really nice Tapit colt by her side doesn’t hurt either; you can see what kind of foal she can throw.”
Peace and War, consigned by Hunter Valley Farm as Hip 32, combines two of North America’s leading sires since the 4-year-old filly is a daughter of War Front and is in foal to Tapit. Also a winner of the Alcibiades at age 2, the mare was repurchased for $1.5 million when offered at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November sale.
Others to watch for include Azara (Hip 125), a half sister to champion Tepin in foal to Into Mischief ; Celestine (144), a grade I-winning daughter of Scat Daddy ; and Lexie Lou (Hip 232), the 2014 Canadian Horse of the Year who has earned $1.7 million.
