Feathered brought $2.35 million

Feathered, a graded stakes winning, multiple grade I-placed filly in foal to War Front  , was bought by Jane Lyon's Summer Wind Farm for $2.35 million Nov. 9, becoming the fourth highest-priced offering at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, the 4-year-old daughter of Indian Charlie was produced from the stakes-placed Dynaformer mare Receipt, a daughter of multiple grade I winner Finder's Fee. Third dam, the grade I winner Fantastic Find, is a half sister to grade I winners Dancing Spree and Furlough and grade II winner All Night.

"I'm still a little shell shocked," laughed Lyon. "I thought we could get her for a little less than that. But it's an old Phipps family, graded stakes on dirt and grass. She's in foal to War Front, she's young, beautiful. The only thing she hasn't done yet is produce so we're counting on that."

Bred in Kentucky by Teresa Viola Racing, Feathered raced for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, which had purchased the bay filly for $300,000 from Crupi’s New Castle Farm consignment at the 2014 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s March 2-year-olds in training sale. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Feathered earned $577,474, with a victory in the Edgewood Stakes (gr. III) and placings in the Starlet, Frizette, and American Oaks, all grade I, and in the Lake George Stakes (gr. II).
