First Stakes Winner for Caleb's Posse

Three Chimneys Farm stallion Caleb's Posse   recorded his first stakes winner when the Donnie Von Hemel-trained Sweet Posse triumphed in the $75,000 Slide Show for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old fillies at Remington Park Nov. 18. 

Owned by The Elkstone Group of Greenville, Del., Sweet Posse broke her maiden at Remington going one mile Oct. 13 and that experience, at the same distance as the Slide Show Stakes, served her well. She raced in a stalking position, a couple of lengths behind the pace-setting Okie Diva, before opening up handily in the stretch en route to a 8 1/2-length victory in her fourth outing.

Bred in Oklahoma by Tracy Strachan, Sweet Posse is out of the Blushing John mare Plenty Sweet. She made $45,000 in the Slide Show Stakes to up her total earnings to $76,533.

Caleb's Posse (Posse—Abbey's Missy, by Slewacide) captured the 2011 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (gr. I) as a 3-year-old against older horses and also won that year's Foxwoods King's Bishop Stakes (gr. I). From his lone crop of racing age, the 8-year-old stallion is represented by eight winners from 18 offspring to race and is also the sire of Divine Kaleb, runner-up in the $100,000 Clever Trevor Stakes.

Caleb's Posse stood for an advertised fee of $5,000 in 2016 and will command the same fee for 2017.
