Champion Untapable will be bred to Frankel in 2017.

Champion Untapable, winner of the 2014 Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I), will be bred to unbeaten 2011 European Horse of the Year Frankel for her initial mating in 2017, according to David Fiske, manager of owner Winchell Thoroughbreds.

In the aftermath of Gun Runner's triumph in the Nov. 25 Clark Handicap Presented by Norton Healthcare (gr. I), Fiske stated that plans call for Untapable to head to The National Stud in Newmarket and that the daughter of Tapit   will likely remain in Europe for two seasons.

"I think it will probably be Frankel both years ... unless they take Arrogate over there and stand him or something," Fiske said. "(Owner) Ron (Winchell's) concern was 'We'll probably get a turf horse' and that's not our thing. But if it's pretty, it will be valuable and that is our thing. Who knows if it will be a turf horse or not? I don't think Frankel is getting a lot opportunities on dirt. There are so many North American horses in those pedigrees, who knows (what he might throw)."

Out of 2014 Broodmare of the Year Fun House, Untapable earned the 2014 Eclipse Award for champion 3-year-old filly following a campaign that saw her win six of seven starts including the Longines Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) and Mother Goose Stakes (gr. I) to go along with her Distaff triumph. The 5-year-old bay mare retired this June with nine wins from 20 starts and $3,926,625 in earnings.
