Dynatail becomes the first winner for freshman sire Hightail

Ballybrit Stable's Dynatail became the first winner for 2012 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint winner Hightail   when she broke her maiden at fourth asking with a wire-to-wire run Dec. 3 at Tampa Bay Downs

The 2-year-old filly, one of just three in Hightail's first crop and his first starter, won a $22,500 maiden special weight for her division going a mile on the Florida turf. She cleared by 2 1/4 lengths under jockey Ronald Allen Jr. for trainer Michael Dini. The win improved her record to 1-1-1 from four starts, for earnings of $17,600.

Calumet Farm bred Dynatail in Kentucky out of the Dynaformer mare Southern Dynamo. She went through the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale when purchased by Frederick Town Farms for $6,000 from Eaton Sales' consignment, and was pinhooked to the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s June 2-year-olds and horses of racing age sale. There, she sold for $5,000 from Hoppel's Horse and Cattle Co. to her current connections.

Dynatail's prior starts came at Presque Isle Downs and Meadowlands, where she was second and third in September and October. She finished off the board at Meadowlands Oct. 19, and returned with this win after a freshening.

Hightail, a 6-year-old by Mineshaft  —Stormy Renee, by Storm Cat, stands at Trophy Club Training Center near Royal, Ark., where his fee for 2017 is $2,500.
