Former Classics Starters Line Up in Jean Prat

French Guineas runner-up Prestige Vendome will try to bounce back from his unplaced finish in the French Derby against six rivals in the Prix Jean Prat (Fr-I) July 14 at Longchamp.
The Nicholas Clement-trained son of Orpen failed to stay the 1 5/16 miles of the Prix du Jockey Club (Fr-I, French Derby), finishing 10th among 16 June 1 at Chantilly. In his start prior to that, he battled winner Karakontie all the way to the line in the May 11 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Fr-I, French Two Thousand Guineas), finishing a tenacious neck second in the race at Longchamp. Checking in fourth in the race was trainer John Gosden's Muwaary, who also is entered in the Jean Prat.
Prestige Vendome returns to the Guineas distance of 1,600 meters (about one mile) for the Jean Prat while Muwaary tries the distance again following his runner-up finish in the seven-furlong Jersey Stakes (Eng-III) at Royal Ascot.
Prestige Vendome is one of a quartet of French-trained runners for the race that also includes Charm Spirit, who was fifth in the May 3 QIPCO Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) behind Kingman, Night of Thunder, and Australia. Trained by Freddie Head, Charm Spirit bounced back to win the Prix Paul de Moussac (Fr-III) at the Guineas distance June 7 at Chantilly.
Trainer Richard Hannon's Shifting Power makes his first start since finishing second behind Kingman in the Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-I) May 24 at the Curragh.
Rounding out the field are maiden winner Yuften (GB), fifth in the St. James's Palace Stakes (Eng-I) last time out at Royal Ascot, and French stakes winners Calling Out and La Hoguette.
