Montanez Hospitalized After Saratoga Fall

Jockey Rosario Montanez was transported by ambulance and admitted to Albany Medical Center July 19 after being unseated by his mount, Piquant, in the fifth race at Saratoga Race Course.
According to NYRA safety steward Dan Nelson, Montanez will be evaluated for facial injuries and a possible concussion and was also complaining of pain in his ribs and pelvic area.
According to the Equibase chart of the seven-furlong claiming race on dirt, Piquant stumbled badly when tangled up with Be Bullish, dropping Montanez near the midpoint on the turn.
