Palace Malice, preparing for the upcoming $1.5 million Whitney Invitational (gr. I), breezed five furlongs over the Saratoga Race Course main track in 1:00.48 July 20 with Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez aboard.

The two-time grade I winner went in company with unraced 3-year-old March Two and was caught by NYRA clockers galloping out six furlongs in 1:13 3/5 on the main track.

"I thought he worked great and we were very pleased with what he did," said trainer Todd Pletcher. "He seems to be maintaining form and doing very well."

The 1 1/8-mile Whitney, a Breeders' Cup "Win & You're In" event for the grade I Classic, is Aug. 2.

Palace Malice scored a one-length win in the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) June 7 and is unbeaten in four starts as a 4-year-old. At 3, he won the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and made two starts at Saratoga, taking the Jim Dandy (gr. II) and finishing fourth in the Travers (gr. I).

Owned by Dogwood Stable, the son of Curlin   has won seven of 16 lifetime starts with earnings of $2,631,135.

Pletcher said Palace Malice is scheduled to work again July 27.
