Sol Kumin, who has campaigned Breeders' Cup winners Lady Eli and Wavell Avenue as well as Preakness Stakes (G1) victor Exaggerator  , has purchased an interest in stakes winner Whitmore

Harry Rosenblum, a Little Rock, Ark., businessman, had owned Whitmore in partnership with trainer Ron Moquett and Robert LaPenta before selling his interest in the gelding to Kumin. Kumin also recently bought a 25% interest in graded-stakes placed Petrov, who is also trained and co-owned by Moquett and is scheduled to make his next start in the $1 million Arkansas Derby (G1) April 15.

"Wish them the best," Rosenblum said of the deal.

Whitmore moved closer to a scheduled start in the $400,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3) April 15 at Oaklawn with a five-furlong work in company just after the track opened April 1. He covered the distance over a fast track in 1:00 2/5 in advance of the six-furlong Count Fleet, which will be his first start in a graded sprint stake.

The 4-year-old Pleasantly Perfect gelding is unbeaten in five career sprint starts, the last coming in the $125,000 Hot Springs Stakes March 11.

Whitmore was on the Triple Crown trail last season, finishing second in the Rebel Stakes (G2) and third in the Arkansas Derby prior to a run in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1). He has a 5-2-1 record from 10 starts with earnings of $637,000.
