Record Goffs Breeze-Up Sale at Doncaster

The sale saw participants from 12 countries on the buyer's sheet
Topped by a Kodiac colt sold for £360,000 ($447,782), the Goffs UK breeze-up sale at Doncaster soared to new levels April 12.
With 120 of the 134 horses offered sold, a 90% clearance rate, the sales company reported that the auction—comparable to a 2-year-olds in training sale in the United States—averaged £45,025 ($56,004) from gross receipts of £5,403,000 ($6,720,470), with a median price of £30,000 ($37,315). The gross, which exceeded the previous record established in 2015, and average and median prices were up 53%, 37%, and 36%, respectively, over last year.
Tally-Ho Stud's sale-topping Kodiac colt went to Richard O'Gorman and was followed on the results sheet by Fairgreen Stables' Lonhro colt sold for £210,000 ($261,206) to the bid of Blandford Bloodstock.
Kerri Radcliffe went to £200,000 ($248,768) to secure a More Than Ready colt from Gaybrook Lodge Stud. The colt, bred in Kentucky and purchased from Hidden Brook for $5,000 at last year's Keeneland September yearling sale, was owned by Jim and Louise McCartan's children Anna and Philip, age 12 and 10.
The sale saw participants from 12 countries on the buyer's sheet: Australia, Bahrain, Denmark, Dubai, Hong Kong, Italy, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar, Spain, Sweden, and the U.S.
"Today has been an amazing experience for the entire team at Goffs UK and indeed our consignors who supported us," said Goffs UK managing director Tony William. "Our team (has) travelled extensively to promote this event, and Goffs UK and our vendors have been rewarded accordingly, with 12 countries being represented on the buying list and faces not seen at Doncaster before, in addition to our local buyers who have again supported us well."
