The Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association’s annual summer sale will be Tuesday, August 22, at the WTBOA Sales Pavilion located on the grounds of the beautiful Emerald Downs near Seattle.
Over a hundred promising yearlings by both top national and local sires have already been nominated!
Among the recent sale graduates are three-time graded stakes winner and 2014-16 Washington horse of the year Stryker Phd, 2016 California juvenile champion California Diamond, 2016 Oregon horse of the year and Emerald Downs horse of the meet O B Harbor and additional 2016 Washington champions Invested Prospect and So Lucky! Or how about top national sprinter Smiling Tiger, whose first foals will certainly come out running this year!
Just this past week two sales graduates made impressive debuts:
Three-year-old Always Enuff won an Emerald Downs maiden special weight by ten lengths and Squeeze Me became the first Washington-bred juvenile winner of 2017 after she took a 4 1/2-furlong trial at Turf Paradise by 6 1/2 lengths.
And there’s more to the sale than just first generation success! Among those runners who stem from WTBOA sale graduates are: 2014 Canadian Horse of the Year Lexie Lou – who just added her fourth Sovereign Award; 2015 Canadian champion and 2017 Santa Anita Handicap (G1) winner Shamans Ghost; Champagne Stakes (G1) winner and sire Officer; Grade 2 stakes winners Old Fashioned and What a Song and many more!
