Appleton winner All Included

Wertheimer and Frere's homebred All Included will head an experienced field in the $100,000 Miami Mile Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park April 29.

The Todd Pletcher-trained son of Include   won the Appleton Stakes (G3T) last time out April 1 and came in second in the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (G1T) one race prior.

The Appleton, also at a mile on the turf,  was All Included's first graded stakes victory, although he finished third three times in grade 1 and grade 2 events in 2015-16.

The 6-year-old horse is the co-highweight in the field with 10-year-old Lubash, who will be making his 52nd start in the Miami Mile for trainer Christophe Clement.

Making his first start of the year, Lubash was determined the winner in the last two of his five starts in 2016—a Sept. 17 optional-claiming allowance and the 1 1/6-mile Tropical Turf Handicap (G3T) Nov. 26, in which he was awarded the victory after Rose Brier drifted into his path in the stretch and was disqualified.

In that race Lubash finished in front of Clement's other Miami Mile entry, War Correspondent  , and Olympia Star's Applicator, who will attempt to break an eight-race winless streak in the Miami Mile that goes back to the May 28 Gleaming Stakes going 1 1/2 miles.

Third behind All Included in the Appleton, William Clifton's Our Way scored in the Jan. 21 Sunshine Millions Turf Stakes one race prior. The Tizway   gelding had three wins as a 3-year-old, which included a victory in the Better Talk Now Stakes going a mile on the inner turf at Saratoga Race Course.

Also in the Appleton, Diamond 100 Racing Club, Robert Trussell, and Patrick Biancone's Diamond Bachelor vied hard for the pace but faded to finish sixth.

Pletcher also brings main-track-only entrant Zulu. The 4-year-old Bernardini   colt was on the 2016 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1)  trail after he finished second in the Xpressbet.com Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2), but was unplaced in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and did not accumulate enough qualifying points to make the starting gate. Zulu finished second in the March 25 Skip Away Stakes (G3) in his latest start.
