Owner John Oxley and trainer Mark Casse has a potent duo entered in the $150,000 Edgewood Stakes Presented by Forcht Bank (G3T) being run May 5 at Churchill Downs, but only one is likely to carry the banner for her connections in the 1 1/16 miles turf test.

Twelve 3-year-old fillies with a proclivity toward turf have been entered in the race led by Oxley's coupled entry of La Coronel and Dream Dancing who are 8-5 in the morning line.

La Coronel, a daughter of Colonel John—Listen, by Chester House, is the most accomplished filly in the field with two graded stakes wins to her credit, but is set to be cross-entered against males in the American Turf Stakes (G2T) on the May 6 undercard as a possible prep for a trip to Royal Ascot this summer.

Casse is trusting Dream Dancing, an Oxley homebred daughter of Tapit  —To Dream About (Monarchos), to get the job done solo in the Edgewood. The gray filly captured the Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park in a brisk 1:40.78 and comes into the Edgewood off a fourth-place finish to La Coronel in the Appalachian Stakes Presented by Japan Racing Association (G3T) at Keeneland  April 13. She has won three times out of five turf starts and all of them have been at 8 1/2 furlongs.

Dream Dancing will leave from post nine with Julien Leparoux, who has been aboard Dream Dancing for her last four starts. Florent Geroux has been riding La Coronel but he has already been named on grade 3 miler Purely a Dream, a daughter of Pure Prize trained by Ken McPeek and raced by Kelly Colliver's Livin the Dream Racing 2015.

Several fillies in the field loom as legitimate threats to the favorite.

J. Paul Reddam's You Missed It, a daughter of Lookin At Lucky  —Secret of the Sea (Storm Cat), comes into the race off a good second in the 1 1/8-mile Providencia Stakes (G3T) on the Santa Anita Park turf. She has never been off the board in six lifetime starts but she has just been missing it, having finished second five times. You Missed It is trained by Doug O'Neill and will be ridden from post 11 by Mario Gutierrez.

Hot on You Missed It's heels in the Providencia was Glen Hill Farm's Emphatically. The Glen Hill homebred by Scat Daddy—Indy Groove (A.P. Indy) is also entered in the Edgewood. She won in two consecutive races prior to the Providencia where she was third by a nose under Flavien Prat, who has the mount in the Edgewood.

Patricia Moseley's homebred Proctor's Ledge is another contender coming out of the Appalachian Stakes. She missed the place by only a head behind stakes winner Morticia. Proctor's Ledge won two races at Gulfstream Park over the winter, including a $75,000 allowance race on the grass at 1 1/6 miles that she took by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:41.26. Proctor's Ledge is trained by Brendan Walsh and will be ridden by Corey Lanerie.

Considering the soggy Louisville forecast for both May 4 and May 5 it is worth noting that the competitor with the best record on wet turf is Sweeping Paddy, a homebred racing for William Pacella, Frank Jones Jr., and Frank Shoop who is trained by Dale Romans. The filly by Paddy O'Prado   out of C.S. Royce (Unbridled's Song) finished second by half a length in an April 17  $72,000 allowance race at Keeneland on good turf going 1 1/8 miles. Sweeping Paddy earned a 92 Equibase Speed Figure for that effort.

Bernadiva and Youngest Daughter have also hit the board on wet going.

Bernadiva is a daughter of Bernardini  —Evening Jewel, by Northern Afleet  , who is coming into the Edgewood off consecutive wins at Tampa Bay Downs and Gulfstream Park, where she broke her maiden March 5. The filly ran third by 2 1/2 lengths in a maiden special weight at the Edgewood distance on yielding turf at Belmont Park in October. She is owned by Jake Ballis, Johns Martin, Bill Rucker, and Rashard Lewis. Bill Mott is her trainer, and she'll be ridden by Javier Castellano.

Youngest Daughter is a G. Watts Humphrey Jr. homebred that broke her maiden at Keeneland April 20. The filly by The Factor   out of After Thought (Fusaichi Pegasus  ) has hit the board six times in eight starts. She finished third on good turf at Keeneland back in October in a 1 1/6-mile maiden special weight. Youngest Daughter is trained by Humphrey's daughter, Victoria Oliver.
