Trainer Scott Fairlie recorded his 1,000th career win May 5 when the 5-year-old mare Aunt Sue raced to victory in a seven-furlong claiming race at Woodbine.
Fairlie, a Toronto native, has been training since 1985 and recorded double-digit wins for the 20th consecutive season at Woodbine in 2016 with 12 wins from 92 starts. Among the notable horses he has conditioned are graded stakes winners Judiths Wild Rush and Mr. Epperson, a multiple graded winner.
Fairlie has won 20 stakes races total over his career with earnings of $28,023,981 through May 5. Aunt Sue, a daughter of Philanthropist, was claimed out of that Woodbine race for $10,000.
