Therighttobeararms put in a hard-fought stretch battle to score her maiden victory
Jon and Patience Jazdzewski's Therighttobeararms became the first winner for the late stallion Fast Bullet when she took a maiden claiming race for 2-year-old fillies at Churchill Downs May 11 in her second start.
Therighttobeararms is from the first and only crop of Fast Bullet, who was euthanized due to complications from colic in December 2014.
The filly was also the sire's first starter when she debuted at Keeneland April 27 to finish fourth in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight, the same distance as the Churchill race. Trained by William Helmbrecht, Therighttobeararms rushed to contest the pace and fought through the stretch with Rose Candy to prevail by three-quarters of a length at the wire in a final time of :53.09.
Bred by AR Enterprises in Kentucky, Therighttobeararms was initially offered as a short yearling at the 2016 Keeneland January winter mixed sale, where she was bought back for $14,000. She was offered again at the Keeneland September yearling sale where Jon Jazdzewski bought her for $6,500. The filly had been consigned at both sales by Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services.
Therighttobeararms is the first foal out of the Malibu Moon daughter Ten Out of a Ten.
Fast Bullet, a grade 2-winning sprinter who won four out of seven starts, was a $230,000 yearling purchase by Zayat Stables at the 2009 Keeneland September sale. The son of Speightstown stood at Pauls Mill for a $7,500 fee during his inaugural season at stud and was to stand for a $5,000 fee at WinStar in 2015.
