Champion Stellar Wind is nearing a run in the June 3 Beholder Mile

Champion Stellar Wind worked five furlongs at Santa Anita Park in 1:00 2/5 May 12, preparing for a start in the June 3 Beholder Mile (G1).

"It was a very nice work, super easy," trainer John Sadler said. "She's right on target for the Beholder. She'll have two more works before the race."

Stellar Wind breezed in company with stablemate Pappou, who was clocked in 1:00 4/5.

"Stellar Wind has never been a fast work filly," Espinoza said. "She saves it for the races, and that's what we want."

Also possible for the Beholder are two-time champion Songbird and streaking graded stakes winner Vale Dori, winner of her last six races.

Songbird worked a bullet five furlongs in :59 flat May 11 for her 4-year-old debut. If she does not run in the Beholder Mile, she could be seen in the June 10 Ogden Phipps Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park.

With regular rider Mike Smith aboard for Jerry Hollendorfer, Songbird worked in company with Mangita, who was clocked in :59 4/5. Songbird was caught in fractional times of :23 1/5, :35, and :47, with a six-furlong gallop out of 1:11 3/5 and a seven-furlong gallop out of 1:26.

Asked if a decision had been made as to whether she would stay at Santa Anita or ship east for the 1 1/16-mile Ogden Phipps, Hollendorfer said, "We don't know yet."
