Rubilinda breaks her maiden impressively at Belmont Park

Don Alberto Stable's homebred Rubilinda became the first winner in the United States for her sire Frankel when she showed an impressive turn of foot, going last to first in a May 27 maiden special weight at Belmont Park

The six-furlong test on the inner turf was the first start for the Chad Brown-trained 3-year-old filly. Rubilinda, with jockey Jose Ortiz up, missed the break and raced at the back of the nine-horse field, as frontrunners Vigor and Battle Joined set fractions of :22.01 and :45.03 through a half-mile. The filly then picked up the pace around the turn and started to run by her competition one by one. Into the stretch, Rubilinda moved into the middle of the track and pulled away to win by 3 1/4 lengths. The final time was 1:08.72 over a course rated good.

Rubilinda is the first foal to race out of the Invincible Spirit mare Rubina. The 8-year-old mare was purchased by Don Alberto for $815,706 at the 2013 Tattersalls December mare sale while in foal to Frankel. She also has produced a 2-year-old Street Cry filly, named Ruffina, and a 2017 Empire Maker   colt.

Juddmonte's champion homebred Frankel went undefeated in his 14 starts, 10 coming at the highest level. The son of Galileo (IRE)—Kind (IRE), by Danehill, stands at Banstead Manor Stud for £125,000.
