Lee “Jack” Allison, a Thoroughbred breeder and owner who lived in Peachtree City, Ga., died May 16. He was 89.
Allison co-bred Kipper Kelly with Neil and Michele Boyce’s Racing Stable. Kipper Kelly placed in three stakes races, including the Chief Illiniwek Stakes at Arlington Park in 1989 and the S.I.U. Stakes at Fairmount Park and Santa Anita Park’s Palos Verdes Handicap (G3), both in 1990. Kipper Kelly stood in Florida and Louisiana and sired grade 2 winner and sire Kelly Kip.
Allison also co-bred Polly Parton in 1988. Polly Parton won the Colfax Maid Stakes at Arlington in 1991.
Allison served in the United States Navy and United States Marines. He is survived by his wife, Josette Allison of Peachtree City; daughter Gail (Gary) Beauchamp of Laurel, Del.; grandchildren, Christiana Beauchamp of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ross Beauchamp of Salisbury, Md.
