Grade 1 winner Time and Motion looms in the Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park

Phillips Racing Partnership's homebred Time and Motion would reach millionaire status if the 4-year-old filly wins the $100,000 Eatontown Stakes (G3T) at Monmouth Park.

The only grade 1 winner entered, Time and Motion looms a standout in the field of 15 fillies and mares that will contest the Eatontown, carded for 1 1/16 miles on grass. Money'soncharlotte and Pleasant Mine are main track only entrants.

With five wins in 12 starts, Time and Motion has earned $940,829, and the $60,000 winner's share of the purse would push the 4-year-old daughter of Tapit  —Ellie's Moment (by Kris S.) over the seven-figure earnings mark. The Kentucky-bred is trained by Jimmy Toner, who took the 1998 edition of the Eatontown with Gastronomical for Phillips Racing Partnership and Arthur Seelbinder.

With her typical style of laying just off the front-runners, Time and Motion scored back-to-back graded victories last autumn. After winning the Lake Placid Stakes (G2T) at Saratoga Race Course the filly overcame a bumping incident at the start and then gamely rallied between horses to win Keeneland's Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes Presented by Lane's End (G1T) by a scant head.

Freshened over winter, Time and Motion returned in April to be sixth, three lengths behind winner Dickinson, in the Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland. She was third, only three-quarters of a length back, in the grade 3 Beaugay Stakes over the yielding turf course at Belmont Park last out.

Trainer Graham Motion, who sent out Gypsy's Warning to take the 2010 Eatontown, will be represented by multiple grade 3 winner Tin Type Gal, a My Meadowview Farm homebred daughter of Tapit. The 4-year-old filly scored her first graded stakes triumph in Belmont's Miss Grillo Stakes (G3T) last year and followed two races later with a win in the Boiling Springs (G3T) at 1 1/8 miles over Monmouth's turf course. The Eatontown will be the 2017 debut for Tin Type Gal, who has been rested since last September.

Empyrean Stables' Zipessa, who was saddled by Mike Stidham to win last year's Dr. James Penney Memorial Stakes (G3T) at Parx Racing, is the only other graded winner in the field. The 5-year-old City Zip   mare had consecutive placings in grade 1 grass stakes last year when third in the Beverly D. Stakes and second in the Rodeo Drive Stakes.
