Calumet Farm's True Timber, runner-up in the Feb. 4 Withers Stakes (G3), will miss the June 10 Belmont Stakes (G1) because of a high temperature this week.

"He spiked a temperature (June 1) and didn't eat, so we're going to pass on the Belmont," trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said June 2. "He's OK. Things just happen."

True Timber was set to contest the 12-furlong classic after most recently running third in the LARC Sir Barton Stakes at Pimlico Race Course May 20. The son of Mineshaft   has dropped five straight since he broke his maiden at Aqueduct Racetrack Dec. 10, including a third-place run in the Jan. 2 Jerome Stakes (G3) and a fourth-place finish in the Wood Memorial Stakes presented by NYRA Bets (G2) April 8.

Bred by Mr. and Mrs. Marc Ferrell, True Timber has one win from seven starts with $171,800 in earnings. McLaughlin said he is unsure where the bay colt might start next.
